Lawyering At The Edge Of Civilization

George to some, Hasselback to most and Hass to those that know me best. I'm following the path of the setting sun and moving west, steadily. Keep in mind, this blog is intended for my friends and family who are familiar with my skewed sense of humor. If you're a stranger and don't like what you read and/or see, keep it to yourself because frankly, I believe in saying what you think and there's nothing you can do about it. To those of you with a sense of humor, enjoy and email me anytime.

Ok, this place is awsome...

Well friends and neighbors, I'm still alive and kicking, and I thought that I would update everyone on what's going on. Due to the untimely death of my digital camera, I won't be posting any pictures for a while, but once I can convince the nice folks at Olympus that Saipan actually exists, I should have some shots for you.

Ok then, highlights to catch you all up...

-I spent four days in Bali on the firm retreat before I started work. If you ever get a shot at going, do. The place is great and frighteningly cheap. Nuff said, I'll post some pics soon.

-The job is great, and I've gotten confirmation that the Supreme Court has cleared me to take the bar exam down here. Apparently, the bodies have not surfaced yet...

-I've taken up scuba diving. Fun stuff and I can do it every weekend in some of the best locations in the Pacific. I will bask in your jealousy now.

-My back yard is the jungle, and my front yard is a coral reef. Pretty damn much speaks for itself.

Ok. I'm glad to be back and I'll keep this blog a-rolling.

Next stop, Guam...

OK all, I'm on my way.

Actually, I'm in Narita airport, but what the hell, close enough.

I've loved Tokyo, but am happy to be on the road again.

Finally, some closure...

OK, for those of you that have been worrying...they've disclosed her name.

Finally, I know who to avoid...

This just keeps getting better...

Lest I find myself in hot water making comments about this, I'll just let those involved in this simmering tale of jurisprudential witchcraft speak for themselves...

Bizarre to say the least, don't you think?

Funny, I never learned this in Trial Advocacy Class...

Well, the saga of the attempted "black magicing" of one of the Commonwealth's Judges continues here.

You know, I never considered using this technique at trial before. I mean, hell, what does your local voodoo practitioner charge for this type of service?

Jury consultants can run you quite a bit of money, so I can only surmise that attempting to impose sympathy on the part of the judge through paranormal means is really going to hurt the ol' wallet.

But when the man has you standing tall, what's a few more bucks...

I'm going to wake up with a third nipple...

Wow, I never thought that I'd have to worry about THIS while practicing law...

http://www.saipantribune.com/newsstory.aspx?cat=1&newsID=46651

I've already begun to take countermeasures, and have enlisted the help of a professional.

I figured what the hell, only $20 to stave off the potential of being cursed with even more body hair was well worth the investment.

Oh, and for those of you that are lawyerly, what do you think this lady could be charged with? Attempted cursing? Possibly misdemeanor "black powdering" of a public officials workplace? What?

It boggles the mind...

Don't tell any of my relatives down south...

Here and I thought I'd be a bit more "dixie."

Sheeit.

Farewell to the land of Wa

OK ladies and gents, in less than ten days, I'm leaving Tokyo to start things over in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

Needless to say, I couldn't be more excited.

I'm going to get some of my own pics up as soon as I hit the beach down there, but this should keep you all interested for the time being.
